The RACT has welcomed the approval by the Tasmanian Parliament of a Code of Practice for fuel price boards.
It will oblige petrol stations to only display undiscounted petrol prices on petrol price boards before any promotional discounts are applied.
RACT executive general manager Membership and Community Stacey Pennicott said the introduction of the code was clearly a good result for Tasmanian motorists for which the RACT had lobbied since 2014.
“More recently, the RACT sought a review of the legislation and made a formal submission as part of the government’s consultation on the issue,” she said.
“Concerns about fuel prices are consistently expressed to the RACT by our members, so we are pleased that our work with the government in this space has delivered this outcome.”
