The Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People, David Clements, today welcomed the Tasmanian Government’s initial response to the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Mr Clements acknowledged the significant work involved in responding to the numerous and broad ranging recommendations made by the Royal Commission.
“I have no doubt that the work of the Royal Commission will lead to major improvements in the way we as a community promote and protect children’s safety and wellbeing at a national and state level,” he said.
“The safety and wellbeing of Tasmanian children is of paramount importance.
“We as a community should be doing all that we can to ensure their protection.
“I will now be considering the initial response in detail, and look forward to working with the Tasmanian Government as it moves to develop its implementation processes.”
